Application
Aetonitrile may be used for the following studies:
• Removal
of residues of nonpolar organochlorine insecticides (OCs) and other
nonpolar pesticides from foods (non) by Mills method.1
• Dispersive solid-phase extraction (dispersive-SPE) of pesticide residues from fruits and vegetables.1
• As solvent to investigate the reaction mechanisms of the formation of extremely unstable copper(II) CuCl42-chlorocomplexes.2
• As
polar solvent in the Resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopic
characterization of structures and environments of the protein-bound
peridinins (Pers) and chlorophylls (Chls) a/c2.3
• Used in mobile phase during the LC-MS quantification of the biologically active constituents of Radix Angelicae Pubescentis.4
• Used
to constitute 20mM sodium phosphate buffer, which is employed in mobile
phase for the UV spectroscopic, reverse phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) and HPTLC
determination of stavudine (SV), lamivudine (LV) and nevirapine (NV) in
tablets.5
• To compose the gradient system for the HPLC detection of diphenylmethane diisocyanate, a polymeric degradation product.6
General description
Acetonitrile (MeCN) is a polar solvent3 and has high dielectric constant (37.5).7
Its purification to obtain different grades for use in different
studies (polarography, spectroscopy, etc) have been reported by many
researchers.7
